How to Decorate Your Apartment for the Holidays

Contrary to popular belief, decorating your apartment for the holidays doesn’t have to be complicated (or expensive). Start by using holiday decorations stored away from previous years or create handmade decorations to add festivity and cheer to your apartment home. Adding small touches like strategically placed mistletoe, poinsettias, tiny Christmas trees and twinkling holiday lights to your decor can go a long way toward making your apartment feel more like a holiday home.

How to Get Into the Holiday Spirit

Been feeling down in the dumps lately? If you’re looking for simple ways to boost your mood, start with easy ideas like making holiday crafts to share with family and friends. You can easily make homemade Christmas cards, decorative wreaths, and glitter pinecones to enhance your Christmas spirit. Join online Christmas parties, New Year’s parties and other virtual events with friends, family, and coworkers to feel more connected. Free video conferencing services like Zoom and Skype are making it much easier to create virtual holidays online during the pandemic.

Celebrating Halloween at 777 Broadway

Halloween, the holiday where scariness abounds, and people have the potential to transform into hideous monsters, aliens, other forms and go around to strange houses demanding sugary food. Only this year, the scariest thing about Halloween is the current pandemic. It may not be safe to congregate in large groups, but that doesn’t mean you still can’t celebrate Halloween in Oakland, California, especially at home at 777 Broadway.

How To Decorate Your Apartment

First things first, if you have a balcony with your apartment, that’s the most visible thing that people will see. Decorate the railings with streamers, fake cobwebs, and other decorations, taking care to secure them, so they don’t come loose and impact traffic. A flying ghoul at someone’s home is one thing; having one come towards you when you’re driving is quite another.

How To Celebrate At Home

Due to the pandemic, it’s far safer to celebrate Halloween in Oakland, California at home. That doesn’t mean you can’t have a small party for yourself and your immediate family or roommates. Find some spooky music, change the lights to the appropriately festive colors and light level and have fun.

If you want to get into the Halloween spirit with non-alcoholic drinks there are so many out there. You could try the Ocean Blue Goblet, which is a mix of lemon-lime soda, sour mix, and Torani Blue Raspberry Syrup. You put the ingredients into a glass or a goblet and you place a couple gummy or marshmallow sharks inside the glass.

Spring Cleaning Tips and Tricks for Your Oakland Apartments

Spring Cleaning in Oakland

Spring Cleaning Tips and Tricks for Your Oakland Apartments

Sunshine and warmer weather are here, yay! With the arrival of the spring season, the inevitable spring cleaning is here as well! Before you go into a panic-induced anxiety attack, what if we told you we have a few suggestions to help in your scrubbing endeavors? That’s right. This year we are working smarter, not harder! After we are done, we will ensure your Oakland apartments look as spotless as they ever have.

It’s That Time Again

If you think about it, what is one of the most used appliances in your house? If you guessed the microwave, you are correct. The microwave is used at least once a day, if not multiple times a day. What is much more, the splatter of food gets all over it! One of the biggest pain points in spring cleaning in the kitchen is the microwave.

Green Tips and Tricks for the Kitchen

If you’re not a fan of scrubbing the dried food splashes and stains found inside your microwave’s walls, this next tip is for you! This year’s spring cleaning is going to be different. Instead of cleaning your microwave the old fashioned way, we are going to steam-clean the microwave!

We know, this is a revolutionary way of cleaning your microwave. Okay, maybe we went too far, however it is a nifty green tip! To remove old stains, we will steam them before scrubbing them.

Here is the technique: simply fill a microwave-safe bowl with 1-2 cups of water, 2 tablespoons of white vinegar, and a few drops of your favorite essential oil aroma. Next, place the bowl in the microwave for 5 minutes. After the 5 minutes, all stains found along the walls of your microwave will be ready to be wiped, not scrubbed! The upside? Your microwave will also be deodorized.

Make Cleaning Smart!

If we adopt the adage work smarter not harder, we will save time during this year’s spring cleaning.
